Tour details
You have seen the incredible wildlife migration phenomenon on the National Geographic programmes….now see it, feel it, touch it, taste it & smell it … for yourself…..
Witness one of the greatest wildlife spectacles in the world – the migration of thousands of wildebeest, zebra and predator entourage through Kenya and Tanzania. The migration by its very nature, is not entirely predictable as the hungry mouths are constantly in search of fresh grazing and weather conditions dictate this. Statistics and years of experience have been taken into consideration to coincide our departures and locations during peak animal flow periods for maximum wildlife experience!
We always strive to offer something off the beaten track. This is a difficult task to accomplish in Kenya and Tanzania, as there is really only one route to take to see the incredible wildlife. We have selected a mix of sophisticated and charming accommodation, some privately owned, with an interesting wildlife enriched safari.
Aberdare National Park is one of the many wildlife infused national parks and sanctuaries that we stay at. Located approx 100 km from Nairobi, it covers a wide variety of landscapes from 4300 mt high mountain tops to deep valleys. Leopards, African Elephant, Wild Dogs and many other characteristically African animals are keenly observed from here. Our accommodation at Aberdare is unique, located at 1966 mt above sea level, is built overlooking floodlit waterhole offering a close view of the local wildlife in complete safety.
Our small group will travel by extended 4WD vehicles during the annual wildlife migrations in Kenya and Tanzania. These vehicles have been designed for maximum wildlife viewing, which means that you will easily see abundant wildlife in their natural habitat in the northern section of the Serengiti Plains. Although they seat nine, we support only six guests per vehicle for the best comfort and viewing opportunities!
Travel across spectacular scenery in the ‘born free’ countryside of Shaba and Samburu National Park and through the incredible Rift Valley which will be a highlight to remember. Enjoy game drives throughout East Africa including Lake Nakuru National Park, where the pink Flamingos flock. At Tsavo East we hope to spot incredible numbers of wildlife including the red mud coated herds of elephants that reside in this massive national park. Marvel at the size of the impressive Ngorongoro Crater and enjoy watching the wildlife quench their thirst waterholes and roam the grasslands. The Massai Mara National Park , one of the best wildlife reserves in Kenya, will be something to tick off your bucket list as well as enjoying a traditional tribal dance performance. On previous safaris we had the privilege to see a pack of lions stalking an antelope, and were also amazed when they ran away from the Masai people.
We usually fly with South African Airways via Johannesburg. Should you fly with Emirates, you may wish to add a 2 day extension in Dubai. A great break to experience another culture, see incredible modern architecture and historic places, enjoy shopping for jewellery and trinkets at the gold souks (markets), dine aboard a traditional wooden dhow sailing on Dubai Creek or just chilling by a glorious pool.
Please note:
Roads in Kenya and Tanzania are at times dusty and bumpy. Passengers must be independently mobile for this safari. Travelling times in Africa are affected by road conditions, border crossings, detours and weather conditions, therefore on certain days travelling times may be longer than anticipated. Please bear in mind that the time it takes to travel 100 km in your home country is not equivalent to the time taken to travel 100 km on the African roads, therefore we encourage you to sit back and enjoy the spectacular scenery Africa has to offer. Where possible additional stops will be made to ensure your travelling comfort at all times.
COMMENTS FROM TRAVELJOY GUESTS ABOUT THIS SAFARI.
Sandy and Alice travelled on our 22 Day Kenya and Tanzania Safari in 2015 and this is what they had to say;
“Regarding our recent African Safari holiday we just want to say that it was one of our best holidays ever.
We saw heaps of animals including the Big 5 and experienced a lion kill plus ostrich mating and the wildebeest migration. Being cat lovers we were delighted to see all the main big cats and some lesser known ones as well such as the Serval and the Large-Spotted Genet. The birdlife was amazing as well. Also the accommodation was extremely good.
As for the tour guide, all I can say is we had the best in the world in Abraham. His talent is amazing and he looked after us superbly. Thanks Abraham for a fantastic experience.”

Reviews
Back to top-
It is nice to be home again after a wonderful trip to Kenya & Tanzania with Traveljoy. We really did have a great time & thoroughly enjoyed most of our travels. Were so lucky to travel with a really good group of people, & our four guides (2 in Kenya & 2 in Tanzania) were outstanding with their organisation, information & knowledge. Our animal sightings were absolutely out of this world, & our guides said we were so lucky to witness some sights - e.g. 5 cheetahs just ambling along the road right beside our vehicle, giraffe Giselle standing on their hind legs feeding from trees etc. We loved “Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge” with its incredible views over the crater. Totally spectacular. Our travel plans, booked by you, including our Indian Pacific train trip to Perth, were all spot on.
